45 Blue Tigers Earn Brother Gaffney Scholar Athlete Awards


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Forty-five Lincoln University student-athletes received the GLVC's Brother James Gaffney Distinguished Scholar Award. Named after Brother James Gaffney, former president at Lewis University and a two-time chair of the GLVC's Council of Presidents, this scholar athlete award is bestowed upon student-athletes at member institutions who achieve a 4.0 grade point average for the academic year.

The Blue Tiger softball team had 16 players achieve a 4.0 GPA for the 2024-25 school year. Earning the recognition were Jamilyn Bagby, Josie Bezzole, Jaedin Blankenship, Lindsey Brandt, Abbi Conrad, Abbie Farmer, Hannah Heisler, Torri Hinnah, Addie Lang, Chesney Luebbering, Gabby Newman, Maris Ollison, Ella Percival, Mallorey Rogers, Maddie Sechrest, Ann-Marie Simpson and Josie Stewart.

The LU men's soccer team had five honorees: Sergio Aguilera, Leon Braveboy, Daniel Cowan, Hadri Lopez and Kelvin Osei. Baseball players Brody Johns and Felix Marquez, and Clayton Winkler, a member of both the baseball and football teams, also had 4.0 averages in 2024-25. Rounding out the honorees from the football team are Jordan Garth, Chad Walker and Tobias Williams.

Representing the men's golf team as Brother James Gaffney Distinguished Sholar Award Recipients are Blake Meredith and Nico Tovar Cardona while Kaathi Gunasegar and Maria Villamil were the honorees from the LU women's golf program. Carolina Dos Santos and Francesca Tucci-Haack earned the award from Lincoln's women's soccer team.

Both Kaleah Toran and Emma Wolken were recognized from the women's basketball team while Tyson Robinson was honored on the men's basketball team. Claiming the award from the Blue Tiger men's track & field program are Dimitri Beckford, Malik Drummond and Jamar Treasure. LU's cross country and women's track & field program had five honorees: Abigail Brooks, Shaneal Clarke Giddings, Mya Davis, Maria Diamond and Nattesha Palmer.
