Miners Beat Blue Tigers, 6-4

ROLLA, Mo. - The Lincoln baseball team played Missouri S&T tough, but the Miners outlasted the Blue Tigers, 6-4, to win the first game of a double-header on Friday (May 2). The Miners also took game two, 22-1.

The Blue Tigers got on the scoreboard first in the opener, as Miguel Padron returned to the plate on a sacrifice fly by Easton Stuckenschneider. Padron led the game off with a double and reached third on an error that allowed Andy Sreboski IV to safely take first base. Sreboski later stole second, but the Miners forced a strikeout to keep LU's lead at 1-0.

Lincoln (5-42, 3-28 GLVC) stranded a Miner runner on third in the bottom of the first, but Missouri S&T (27-21, 17-14 GLVC) took advantage of four hits and three errors in the second inning to take a 3-1 advantage. The Miners scored a fourth run in the third on a ground out, but Blythe Blakey hit a two-run homer in the top of the fourth to pull the Blue Tigers back to within one. Felix Marquez, who reached base on balls, also scored on Blakey's homer.

The Blue Tigers entered the final inning facing a 6-3 deficit, but Padron helped LU close the gap by hitting a double and scoring on a base hit by Jayden Little. Sreboski also had a hit in the final frame, but the Miners managed to force a fly out to seal the win.

Drake Davidson also had a hit for Lincoln and starting pitcher Jacob Zahner struck out four Miner batters. Little led the Blue Tigers with seven putouts, Stuckenschneider recorded five and Sreboski totaled four. Zahner and Isaiah Figueroa each had two assists.

Padron scored his third run of the afternoon in the first inning of game two, as he reached on a walk before coming home on a single by Stuckenschneider. LU was kept off the board the rest of the way, however, with Blakey notching the other hit for the Blue Tigers. Blakey and Mac Biggs each struck out Missouri S&T batters.

Little provided four putouts and Blakey, Davidson, Sreboski, Clayton Winkler and Ryan Lepper had two apiece. Figueroa and Ty Ollison each tallied two assists.

Lincoln closes its 2025 campaign on Saturday (May 3) with a 12:00 p.m. CDT game against the Miners.
