Blue Tigers Drop Series Opener in Rolla

ROLLA, Mo. - It was a close game through six innings, but Missouri S&T pulled away late to beat the Lincoln baseball team, 14-4, on Thursday (May 1).

The Miners took an early 5-0 lead, but the Blue Tigers began battling back in the top of the third, as Drake Davidson scored on a ground out by Jayden Little. In the fifth inning, Brody Johns hit an infield single then later scored on a double by Davidson. Little got his second RBI of the afternoon on a base hit that plated Davidson, making it a 5-3 ballgame.

A sacrifice bunt allowed Missouri S&T (25-21, 15-14 GLVC) to add another run in the bottom of the sixth, but Miguel Padron ran home on a passed ball in the seventh to cut the Lincoln (5-40, 3-26 GLVC) deficit down to 6-4. The Miners started to pull away in the remaining innings, however, and held on for the win.

Padron and Isaiah Figueroa each had a pair of hits and Blythe Blakey had one as LU finished with eight hits in the contest. Canon Feist struck out two as the starter on the mound and Little provided a team-high eight putouts. Andy Sreboski IV had five putouts, Davidson was next with four and Padron ended the day with three. Ty Ollison posted a team-high four assists, Blakey had three and Feist, Padron and Little were all credited with two.

Lincoln continues its series against Missouri S&T on Friday (May 2) with a 12:00 p.m. CDT double-header.
