KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Lincoln baseball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat Truman State, 4-2, in the second game of a double-header on Saturday (April 26). The Bulldogs took the first game of the day, 7-2.
In the second game, Truman State (11-31, 8-19 GLVC) scored both of its runs in the bottom of the second, but those were the only scores allowed by pitcher
Ed Noy, who struck out five in a complete-game performance. That score stood until the top of the fifth, when an error allowed
Isaiah Figueroa to score. During the next at-bat,
Miguel Padron hit a two-run homer, plating
Drake Davidson and putting LU on top, 3-2.
After forcing TSU to go three-up, three-down in the bottom of the fifth, Lincoln (5-38, 3-24 GLVC) added an insurance run in the top of the sixth.
Easton Stuckenschneider led the frame off with a base hit, took second on a sacrifice bunt by
Ty Ollison, and then scored on a double hit by
Blythe Blakey. The LU defense stranded a Bulldog runner on second in the bottom of the sixth, then forced another one-two-three inning in the bottom of the seventh to clinch the victory.
Padron had two hits and Davidson tallied an RBI.
Jayden Little led Lincoln with 10 putouts and Ollison finished with six. Noy and Figueroa each recorded three assists.
Lincoln took an early lead in the opener, as Padron tripled before coming home on a base hit by Little. An RBI double allowed Truman State to tie the game in the bottom of the first, and the Bulldogs scored six more times before Lincoln got back on the board in the top of the seventh. Stuckenschneider hit a two-out, solo home run for LU's second run of the day.
Padron also had two hits in the opener and
Jacob Zahner pitched the complete game, striking out five. Stuckenschneider finished with six putouts, Little supplied five and Padron recorded three. Stuckenschneider also led the Blue Tigers with three assists.
Lincoln will close its four-game series against Truman State with a 12:00 p.m. CDT game on Sunday (April 27).
