KENOSHA, Wis. - The Lincoln baseball team racked up 21 hits, but the Blue Tigers dropped a double-header to Parkside on Saturday (March 8). LU fell in the first game, 18-4, and lost the second contest, 17-6.
Brody Johns scored the first run of the afternoon for the Blue Tigers, reaching the plate on a ground rule double hit by
Isaiah Figueroa. LU's other three runs of game one came in the top of the fifth, as
Ty Ollison hit a lead-off triple and scored on a single through the middle hit by
Ryan Lepper. That brought up
Jayden Little, who knocked a pitch over the left center field wall for a two-run homer. Little went 3-for-4 at the plate while Johns and Ollison each had two hits.
Felix Marquez also had one of Lincoln's 10 hits in the opener while LU's pitching rotation of
Drake Davidson,
Carter Otto and
Mac Biggs combined for five strikeouts. Little and Ollison each had five putouts and
Miguel Padron finished with four. Lepper posted a team-high three assists.
Lincoln (2-12) scored first in the second contest, as Padron reached on an error before coming home on a double from Johns. Andy Sreboski, who had a base hit, also scored on that double. Parkside (11-1) answered with four runs in the bottom of the first, but Lincoln tied the game up in the top of the second when Marquez hit a double and Padron followed with a home run.Â
Parkside again had an answer, scoring three runs in the bottom of the second for a 7-4 lead. In the top of the third, Figueroa got on base via a bunt, and
Blythe Blakey and Marquez hit back-to-back doubles to pull LU within 7-6. That was as close as the Blue Tigers would come to rallying, however, as Parkside scored 10 unanswered runs.
Sreboski went 3-for-4 at the plate and Marquez finished with two hits while Little and Lepper each had one.
Jacob Zahner struck out three Ranger hitters while
Canon Feist fanned one. Padron and
Jared Fulghem each recorded four putouts and Figueroa provided four assists.
Lincoln remains in Kenosha to play another double-header against Parkside on Sunday (March 9). First pitch is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. CST.
