FAYETTE, Iowa - A huge first quarter performance helped Upper Iowa win, 66-41, against the Lincoln women's basketball team on Thursday night (Feb. 6).
Isis Sanders led the Blue Tigers with 16 points and grabbed three rebounds to go with a block, an assist and a steal.
Chase Giddings had a team-high nine rebounds while
Kennedy Jones was next with eight. Giddings finished with nine points and a steal and Jones tallied four steals while chipping in two points and dishing an assist.
The first period was the difference in the game, as Upper Iowa (10-10, 7-7 GLVC) shooting .533 from the field en route to a 23-4 lead after 10 minutes of play. The Peacocks only out-scored the Blue Tigers by six during the remaining three quarters, with Lincoln (1-18, 0-13 GLVC) scoring more points than Upper Iowa in the third period. LU had only eight turnovers on the night while forcing UIU into 12.
Lyssa Sportsman secured seven rebounds and scored three points while blocking two shots.
Kaleah Toran ended the evening with eight points, four boards and a steal while
Emma Wolken provided two points and
Imani Harris made a free throw. Harris also finished with four rebounds and an assist.
Lincoln will head to Romeoville, Ill. on Saturday (Feb. 8) to play Lewis at 1:00 p.m. CST.
