ST. LOUIS, Mo. - In a game that began on Jan. 25 but concluded on Monday (Feb. 24), the Lincoln women's basketball team had three players score in double figures, but LU fell to Maryville, 74-62.
The first half and part of the third quarter were played on Jan. 25, but a medical emergency led to the contest being postponed, with the teams meeting on Monday to resume and complete the contest.
Isis Sanders led the Blue Tigers with 14 points and also had five rebounds while
Emma Wolken and
Hanne Nybo each scored 12. Wolken also had four boards, two assists and a steal while Nybo added eight rebounds, a pair of takeaways and two assists.
Maryville (13-14, 11-8 GLVC) led Lincoln (1-24, 0-19 GLVC) by four at the end of the first quarter and held a 10-point lead when the game was postponed back in January. The Blue Tigers scored 40 points in the second half, as LU shot .571 from three-point range in the third quarter and .667 in the fourth, but the Saints held on for the win. The Blue Tigers shot .500 from the field in the fourth period but just .379 for the contest.
Biance Stocks had six points for the Blue Tigers as well as three boards and an assist, and
Kennedy Jones dished two assists to go with four points and a rebound.
Kiara Cabrera also finished with four points and a rebound and additionally blocked a shot.
Kaleah Toran added two points and a steal while
Chase Giddings supplied two points, two boards and a pair of assists.
Lincoln will close out its 2024-25 campaign on Thursday night (Feb. 27) when the Blue Tigers host Missouri S&T at 5:30 p.m. CST.
