Blue Tigers Close Season With a 61-53 Victory

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Biance Stocks and Ayreona Carter celebrated their senior night by scoring in double figures as the Lincoln women's basketball team defeated Missouri S&T, 61-53, in its final game of the 2024-25 season on Thursday night (Feb. 27).

Stocks led LU with 17 points and had five rebounds as well as an assist and a steal. Carter posted a double-double, tallying 10 points and 10 boards to go with two assists and a steal. Both players were recognized in a post-game ceremony for their contributions during their tenures with the Blue Tigers.

Lincoln opened the game with its best defensive performance of the season, allowing Missouri S&T (15-10, 10-9 GLVC) to make only one field goal en route to a 10-4 lead through 10 minutes of play. The Miners went 0-7 from three-point range in the first half and were held to .250 shooting from the field. The Blue Tigers, meanwhile, made nine three-pointers throughout the course of the contest, including four in the first half as LU took a 24-16 halftime lead.

A trey by Isis Sanders gave the Blue Tigers a 43-21 lead with just under four minutes to play in the third quarter, but Missouri S&T mounted a furious comeback, ultimately tying the game at 50 with two minutes remaining. Stocks hit a three from the top of the key to break the tie and Lincoln forced a quick turnover, leading to Emma Wolken hitting a jumper to put LU back up by five. Lincoln forced 16 turnovers on Thursday and finished with a 42-37 advantage in rebounding.

Chase Giddings was sent to the line after grabbing a defensive rebound and made both shots, pushing the Lincoln run to 7-0. A jumper with 53 seconds to play proved to be the Miners' last field goal of the day, and Sanders and Giddings each made two free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

Sanders had 13 points, five rebounds, three assists and a block on the evening while Wolken grabbed five rebounds and notched two steals while dishing an assist. Giddings finished with 14 points, eight boards, an assist and a steal, and Kennedy Jones collected three rebounds while also tallying a block, an assist and a steal.

Kaleah Toran had two rebounds and two steals for the Blue Tigers. Kiara Cabrera, meanwhile, closed the scoring with five points and three rebounds.
