LIBERTY, Mo. -
Kiara Cabrera scored 13 points to lead the Lincoln women's basketball team in their road game at William Jewell on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 22). Lincoln finished with more rebounds than the Cardinals (35-34) and forced WJC into 12 turnovers, but William Jewell got the win, 71-49.
Cabrera additionally supplied three rebounds and a steal for the Blue Tigers while
Kennedy Jones finished with a steal, four points and a team-high seven boards.
Kaleah Toran added seven points and dished two assists to go with a rebound.
William Jewell (6-18, 4-14 GLVC) jumped out to a 16-10 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Lincoln (1-23, 0-18 GLVC) played the Cardinals tough in the second, allowing WJC to score 11 points while LU finished with 10. After being held to .286 shooting in the second period, however, William Jewell shot .583 from the floor in both the third and fourth quarters, scoring 44 combined points to pull away for the win.Â
Chase Giddings came off the bench to provide eight points, five rebounds and an assist.
Biance Stocks also chipped in eight points and had a block to go with five rebounds.
Emma Wolken contributed five points, four boards, an assist and a steal to the Lincoln cause while
Isis Sanders rounded out LU with four points, six rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block.
Up next for Lincoln is a visit to St. Louis, Mo. on Monday (Feb. 24) to finish a game against Maryville that was halted during the third quarter back on Jan. 25.
