Kaleah Toran came close to posting a double-double, but the Lincoln women's basketball team fell to Rockhurst, 78-50, on Thursday evening (Feb. 20).
Toran finished the night with nine points and eight rebounds while also tallying a block, a steal and two assists. As a team, LU had seven takeaways and forced 14 total turnovers, with
Emma Wolken accounting for a pair of those steals. Wolken also scored six points and pulled down a pair of rebounds.
The first half was all defense, with Lincoln (1-22, 0-17 GLVC) allowing Rockhurst (8-15, 6-11 GLVC) to shoot just .133 overall and .125 from three-point range. The second period, however, proved to be the difference in the game, as the Hawks went on a 32-11 run to take control of the contest. Rockhurst shot .414 for the game and finished with a 53-42 advantage in rebounding while holding the Blue Tigers to .220 shooting for the night.
Isis Sanders chipped in eight points and secured three rebounds to go with a block, an assist and a steal.
Biance Stocks and
Chase Giddings each provided seven points and four boards, with Stocks dishing an assist and blocking a shot while Giddings notched a steal.
Kiara Cabrera finished second among the Blue Tigers with seven rebounds and scored six points to go with a steal and two assists.
Lyssa Sportsman came off the bench to score four points and grab four rebounds.
Kennedy Jones, meanwhile, closed out the scoring for the Blue Tigers with three points, six boards, an assist and a steal.
Lincoln travels to Liberty, Mo. on Saturday (Feb. 22) to take on William Jewell at 1:00 p.m. CST.
