Five Blue Tigers Reach Double Figures in 83-64 Victory

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Tyler Chapman scored 22 points and four other Blue Tigers scored in double figures as the Lincoln men's basketball team beat Rockhurst, 83-64, on Thursday night (Feb. 20).

Chapman also had five rebounds and a steal while Franck Yetna, Andreas Fuller and Mikey West each scored 13 points to lead LU to victory. Yetna grabbed seven rebounds, dished three assists and blocked a shot. Fuller and West each dished four assists, with Fuller additionally grabbing four rebounds and notching a steal while West had two rebounds.

Malcolm Davis rounded out LU's double-digit scorers with 12 points, two boards and a pair of steals. Max Ekono, meanwhile, led the Blue Tigers with 15 rebounds and five assists while also scoring six points and blocking a shot.

Lincoln (18-7, 10-7 GLVC) made 15 treys on .484 shooting, with Chapman going 5-for-8 from long range. LU also shot .452 from the floor and led for nearly the entire game, thanks in large part to a 17-3 run that gave the Blue Tigers a 19-12 advantage with 12:09 remaining in the first half. A triple from Fuller gave Lincoln a 42-31 lead at the break. In the second half, West made a pair of free throws to give LU a 56-36 cushion, and the Hawks never got the Lincoln lead down to under double-digits the rest of the way.

The Blue Tigers held Rockhurst (16-9, 10-7 GLVC) to .345 shooting overall and .280 from three-point range, though the rebounding (LU 40, RU 36) and turnover (both teams had nine) battles were fairly even.

Matthieu Biembongo closed the scoring for Lincoln with four points, two rebounds and a pair of blocks. Tyson Robinson also represented LU on the court, as he grabbed a rebound and dished an assist.

The win was head coach Jimmy Drew's 50th victory in just under three seasons leading the Blue Tigers.

Lincoln heads to Liberty, Mo. on Saturday (Feb. 22) to play William Jewell at 3:00 p.m. CST.
