JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln women's basketball played some tenacious defense on Saturday (Feb. 15), forcing 19 turnovers and tallying 14 steals, but Quincy held on for a 78-61 win over the Blue Tigers.
Emma Wolken led LU with five takeaways and had an assist to go with two points and three rebounds.
Isis Sanders and
Chase Giddings tied for the team-lead with 15 points apiece, with Sanders also dishing an assist and grabbing a rebound. Giddings, meanwhile, had a board and a steal.
Lincoln (1-21, 0-16 GLVC) shot .400 from the floor in the first quarter, racing out to a 6-2 lead before finishing the period down just 14-12. The Blue Tigers allowed Quincy (20-5, 14-2 GLVC) to shoot just .200 from three-point range, but the Hawks shot .561 overall and finished with a 45-30 advantage in rebounding.
Kennedy Jones led the Blue Tigers with seven rebounds and was responsible for four steals while
Biance Stocks added 11 points, four boards, an assist and a steal.
Kaleah Toran, meanwhile, scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds while notching two steals and an assist.
Lyssa Sportsman came off the bench to provide four points, three rebounds and a block, and
Kiara Cabrera rounded out Lincoln with four points, a rebound and a steal.
Lincoln travels to Kansas City, Mo. to play Rockhurst on Thursday (Feb. 20) at 5:15 p.m. CST.
