THE TIP OFF:  The Lincoln men's basketball team plays its first two road GLVC games of the season this week as LU takes on teams in Iowa and Illinois. On Thursday (Dec. 4), the Blue Tigers visit Fayette, Iowa to play Upper Iowa in a 7:00 p.m. CST showdown. Lincoln then heads to Romeoville, Ill. on Saturday (Dec. 6) to play Lewis at 3:00 p.m. CST. Lincoln opened league play last weekend by splitting a pair of home games. The Blue Tigers beat Southwest Baptist, 77-68, on Saturday (Nov. 29), but fell to Missouri S&T, 99-87, on Monday night (Dec. 1). Both opponents this week are playing their second and third GLVC games; Upper Iowa is 1-0 in the league after a 96-92 overtime win over Quincy, while Lewis is 0-1 in the conference after falling to Indianapolis, 80-67.
 
FAST BREAKS
- Thursday marks the fifth meeting between Lincoln and Upper Iowa. The Blue Tigers lead the series, 3-1.
 
- LU and UIU split their series last year, as the Peacocks won in Jefferson City, 71-61, before Lincoln returned the favor with a 72-65 victory in Iowa.
 
- On Saturday, Lincoln and Lewis will play each other for the fifth time. The Blue Tigers lead the series, 3-1.
 
- Last season, Lincoln swept the Flyers during the regular season, then beat Lewis for a third time in the first round of the GLVC Championship tournament.
 
PREVIEWING THE BLUE TIGERS:  After a trio of 20-point performances, Solomon Oraegbu leads Lincoln with 20.2 points per game. He also averages 6.3 rebounds while Max Ekono, who is scoring 7.8 points per game, leads the team with 7.5 boards per night. Enari Thomas averages 13.2 points and 3.8 rebounds and Tyler Chapman is averaging 12.8 points, 2.5 boards and 3.3 assists per contest. Malcolm Davis averages 2.5 apg. and scores 9.2 ppg.
 
HEAD COACH JIMMY DREW:  In 2024-25, Drew led Lincoln to its first-ever GLVC tournament title as well as the program's first bid into the NCAA tournament since 1981. In four years leading the Blue Tigers, he has won over 50 games, including posting a 23-9 record last season. Drew led LU to a 17-10 record during his first season and won 15 games in 2023-24.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Lincoln 77, Southwest Baptist 68
Solomon Oraegbu led four Blue Tigers in double figures with 17 points as LU never trailed in a 77-68 win over Southwest Baptist on Saturday (Nov. 29). Tyler Chapman scored 15 points and Malcolm Davis and Matthieu Biembongo each scored 14 as Lincoln shot .519 overall and .435 from three-point range.
 
#8 Missouri S&T 99, Lincoln 87
Solomon Oraegbu scored 32 points while Enari Thomas added 25, but the Blue Tigers dropped a 99-87 decision at home to Missouri S&T this past Monday (Dec. 1). Max Ekono pulled down 12 boards and Matthieu Biembongo blocked three shots while Tyler Chapman scored seven points.
 
SCOUTING THE PEACOCKS:  Upper Iowa is strong offensively, averaging 88.2 points per game. Kyle Hrncir leads UIU with 20.8 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals. Trey Lewis averages 13.5 points, Tate Petersen is next with 13.2 points per night, and Jack Miller scores 10.0 per game.
 
UIU HEAD COACH CASEY KASPERBAUER:  Before taking over at Upper Iowa, Kasperbauer spent six seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater, South Dakota. As the offensive specialist, he coached units that finished in the top-five in the country in scoring, ball control and free throw rate. As a player, Kasperbauer scored over 1,000 points and is the program leader in free throw percentage (.908).
 
SCOUTING THE FLYERS: Lewis, seeking its first win of the season this week, has been out-scored by an average of 76.4-64.0. Collin Albert leads the team 15.2 points and 3.4 assists per contest while Arius Alijosius averages 13.8 points. Ryan Hall (9.8 ppg.) is next on the scoring list while Timofei Komissarov leads the team in rebounding (4.8).
 
LU HEAD COACH SCOTT TROST:  The all-time wins leader at Lewis, Trost is in his 20th season with the program. Under Trost's leadership, the Flyers have posted 16 winning seasons, including five 20-win campaigns, and have won the GLVC title in both 2016 and 2021. Trost has coached two players who have earned GLVC tournament MVP honors: Max Strus, who is currently in the NBA, and Artese Stapleton, a former Blue Tiger.
 
GIMME THREE:  Tyler Chapman is one of the finest long-range shooters in the GLVC, as his .462 accuracy rating ranks fifth in the conference and 48th nationally. Chapman is connecting on three treys per contest, an average that ranks 37th nationally and fourth in the league. As a team, LU is making 9.2 treys per night, the third-most in the GLVC.
 
WE'LL TAKE THOSE FREE POINTS:  Lincoln has been excellent at the free throw line, shooting .818, the fourth-best percentage in the nation. The Blue Tigers average 19.5 free throws per game, rating them 27th in the country. LU, which leads the GLVC in free throw percentage and is second in free throws made per game, ranks third in the GLVC with 23.8 attempts per game.
 
FINE AT THE LINE:  Solomon Oraegbu made his first 33 free throws of the season and currently leads the GLVC, and is ranked 36th in NCAA Division II, with a free throw percentage of .930. Oraegbu has made 40 total free throws, the third-most of any player in the league as well as the 23rd-most in the country. Oraegbu has been sent to the line 43 times, the 51st-most in the nation.
 
DENIED:  Matthieu Biembongo has blocked 11 shots in 2025-26, the most by any player in the GLVC and the 31st-most by a Division II player. Biembongo's 1.8 blocks per game are also the most in the league while rating 35th in the nation. As a team, Lincoln rejects an average of 3.3 shots per night, the fourth-most in the conference.
 
THE SOLO SHOW:  Boosted in part by his finesse at the free throw line, Solomon Oraegbu is leading Lincoln with 20.2 points per night. Oraegbu, who scored 32 in Lincoln's game against Missouri S&T, is shooting .507 from the field and ranks 43rd in the country in points per night. His 121 total points rank seventh in the GLVC while his field goal percentage is the league's eighth-best.
