Blue Tigers Beat Haskell in Overtime, 85-81

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln men's basketball team shot .571 from the field and .750 from three-point range in overtime to beat Haskell, 85-81, on Thursday evening (Dec. 11).

Solomon Oraegbu posted a double-double, finishing with 37 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and a steal. Max Ekono finished with a team-high 13 rebounds and added nine points and three assists to the winning cause. D'Necco Rucker also had nine points and led LU with three steals while also pulling down a rebound.

After Haskell (3-12) mounted a furious rally to come back from a 13-point deficit to take a 70-67 lead, Oraegbu scored the final three points of the second half to send the contest into overtime. Rucker opened the scoring in the extra period by draining a trey off a pass from Malcolm Davis, and Oraegbu later scored four-straight points to give LU a 77-72 cushion. After a layup by Haskell, David made a three to increase LU's advantage back up to six.

Lincoln (5-4) eventually led by seven before Haskell made a three-pointer as time ran off the clock for the 85-81 final score. The Blue Tigers forced Haskell into 18 turnovers, held a 44-38 advantage in rebounding and scored 24 points at the free throw line. Haskell shot .516 overall, but just .313 from long distance and .500 at the charity stripe.

Davis ended the night with eight points, two boards and three assists. Robin Discamps came off the bench to provide seven points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal while Sterling Rivera contributed four rebounds, two points, a pair of steals and an assist. Tyler Lucas and Amar Kadic each chipped in four points, and Rashad Williams closed the scoring with five points and five boards.
