WICHITA, Kan. -
Taelyn Smith scored 11 points to lead the Lincoln women's basketball team in an exhibition game at Division I Wichita State on Monday night (Nov. 3). The Blue Tigers forced the Shockers into 22 turnovers, but Wichita State claimed the win, 96-42.
Lincoln opened the game strong, shooting .444 overall and .400 from three-point range during the opening quarter. Five different Blue Tigers drained a trey and
Kiara Cabrera recorded a team-high four steals.
Taelyn Smith had four rebounds and a pair of assists while Cabrera finished with nine points and four boards.
Isis Sanders notched a takeaway while chipping in six points, dropping two dimes and grabbing three boards. Hallie Williams supplied five points, blocked a shot and pulled down a rebound.
Bella Borgos, meanwhile, had LU's other steal of the evening and contributed three points and three rebounds to the Blue Tiger cause.
Laini Joseph finished with four points and a rebound while
Kennedy Jones and
Chase Giddings each score two points. Jones additionally blocked a shot, dished an assist and collected two rebounds. Giddings had one rebound.
Aaliyah Smith tied for the team-high with four rebounds and recorded an assist while
Kaleah Toran and
Anjelle Kerr also represented Lincoln on the court.
The Blue Tigers open their 2025-26 season in Owensboro, Ky. on Friday, Nov. 14 by playing Thomas More on the campus of Kentucky Wesleyan. Tip-off for that contest is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CST.
