ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Lincoln men's soccer team, ranked No. 12 in the country in the United Soccer Coaches Division II poll, used a first half goal to beat Maryville on the road, 1-0, on Friday afternoon (Oct. 3).
Kevon Maitland scored in the 15th minute of the contest off a pass from
Hadri Lopez for the only goal of the contest. Lincoln (6-0-1, 4-0-1 GLVC) kept the Saints off the scoreboard despite Maryville (4-4-1, 3-3-0 GLVC) holding a 13-8 advantage on total shot attempts. Both teams, however, finished with three shots on goal.Â
Vincent Osei earned the shutout win in goal after making three saves.
Rajae Lawrence led LU with three shot attempts while Maitland was next with two.
Nkouka Loubassou and
Makwe Nkoana each had a shot on goal.
Antwone Smith additionally had a shot attempt for Lincoln.
The Blue Tigers remain on the road on Sunday (Oct. 5) to play McKendree in Lebanon, Ill. at 2:30 p.m. CDT.
