JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - After winning the GLVC tournament and securing a trip to the NCAA tournament last season, the Lincoln men's basketball team received some respect from coaches across the country in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II Preseason Poll, released on Tuesday (Oct. 28).
The Blue Tigers were among the teams outside of the top-25 receiving votes, as Lincoln earned 25 total points. Lincoln was one of just three GLVC programs mentioned in the preseason poll, joining Missouri S&T, the reigning GLVC regular season champion, which was picked No. 8; and Missouri-St. Louis, the team the Blue Tigers beat in the GLVC championship game, which received seven points.
Lincoln, which returns five players, including four starters, from last year's squad, opens the 2025-26 season in Puerto Rico. LU plays Puerto Rico-Bayamon on Friday, Nov. 14, and takes on Puerto Rico-Mayaguez on Saturday, Nov. 15.Â
