LEBANON, Ill. -
Imani Harris poured in 22 points and
Hanne Nybo collected 10 rebounds, but the Lincoln women's basketball team fell to McKendree, 80-58, on Thursday evening (Jan. 23).
In addition to lead LU in points, Harris filled the stat sheet with three rebounds, two steals, a pair of assists and a block. Nybo added six points while
Kiara Cabrera totaled 14 points, five boards and a steal.
Isis Sanders, meanwhile, led the Blue Tigers with five assists and chipped in six points to go with two steals and two rebounds.
A steal by Sanders led to a layup by Nybo that gave Lincoln an early 4-2 lead, and Lincoln (1-15, 0-10 GLVC) would twice hold a four-point advantage in the first quarter before a late 7-3 run allowed McKendree (11-5, 7-3 GLVC) to end the first quarter with a 13-12 lead. Buckets by Harris and Nybo to open the second period gave Lincoln back the edge on the scoreboard, but the Bearcats responded with a big run that gave McKendree a 30-22 lead with just under two minutes left in the half.
Cabrera hit a jumper in the paint to get LU back within six, and Harris drained a three to cut the deficit in half. McKendree made a three of its own, however, to take a 33-27 lead into the break. The third quarter proved to be the difference-maker, as the Bearcats out-scored the Blue Tigers, 25-17, and held on for the victory. Lincoln shot .455 from the floor but was held to just one successful three-pointer. The Bearcats only made six treys, but shot .531 for the contest.
