JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Hot second half shooting helped Southwest Baptist beat the Lincoln women's basketball team, 77-52, on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 11) in a rematch of a game played in Bolivar, Mo. on Nov. 30.
The Bearcats led by 15 at the end of the first quarter, but Lincoln (1-12, 0-7 GLVC) came out strong in the second quarter, shooting .500 from three-point range to cut the deficit down to 32-25 with four minutes until the break. Southwest Baptist (5-8, 3-4 GLVC) eventually took a nine-point lead into halftime, but a free throw by
Kaleah Toran and a layup by
Emma Wolken allowed LU to pull back within 37-31. That was as close as LU would get, however, as SBU shot .615 from the floor in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win.
Biance Stocks led Lincoln with 14 points and five assists and she also grabbed four rebounds while
Ayreona Carter and Toran tied for the team-led with seven boards apiece. Carter scored 12 and Toran finished with three points, a block, two assists and a pair of steal. Wolken, meanwhile, had eight points and four rebounds.
Isis Sanders made three treys to end the afternoon with nine points, four assists and a rebound.
Hanne Nybo contributed four points, five boards and a steal to the Lincoln effort and
Kiara Cabrera added two points, four rebounds and a pair of assists.
Lincoln closes out a three-game homestand on Thursday (Jan. 16) by hosting Missouri-St. Louis at 5:30 p.m. CST.
