BOLIVAR, Mo. -
Shandee Brooks had a pair of goals and
Kevon Maitland scored on a penalty kick as the Lincoln men's soccer team won its second-straight match with a 5-0 victory over Southwest Baptist on Sunday (Sept. 22).
Hadri Lopez scored the only goal of the first half off a pass by
Rajae Lawrence in the 37th minutes as Lincoln (3-1-1, 2-1 GLVC) took a 1-0 lead into the break. The Blue Tigers started to blow open the game just 1:48 into the second half as
Jonas Mueller got the ball to Brooks for a 2-0 lead over Southwest Baptist (2-2-3, 1-1-1 GLVC).
Maitland's penalty kick goal came in the 54th minute and
Christopher Hull scored his third goal of the season in the 64th minute. Brooks closed the scoring at the 72:30 mark, with his second goal of the match set up by passes by
Guilherme Goncalves Capaldi and
Leon Braveboy.Â
Southwest Baptist was held to just five shots, none of which were on goal, while Lincoln had 12 shots on target and 25 overall.
Vincent Osei picked up the win in goal and
Eugeni Yague led LU with five shots on the day and three on goal. Two of Hull's three shots were on goal and Lawrence, Maitland,
Bailey Rhodes and
Brady Charles each finished with two shots apiece. Brooks attempted three shots, all of which were on the goal, and
Keish Clarke,
Roland Baker,
Ackeem Mullings, Mueller and
Kanye Francis each had a shot.
Lincoln will go for its third-straight win on Friday (Sept. 27) when the Blue Tigers visit St. Louis, Mo. to play Missouri-St. Louis at 7:30 p.m. CDT.
