BOLIVAR, Mo. - The Lincoln women's soccer team picked up the first conference win in program history on Sunday (Sept. 22) as the Blue Tigers beat Southwest Baptist, 1-0.
After 76 minutes of scoreless play,
Ivanna Faria kicked in the game-winning goal and the LU defense held SBU at bay the rest of the way. Lincoln had 22 shots compared to 13 for the Bearcats as LU improved to 5-2 overall and 1-2 in GLVC play.
Grace Larson led Lincoln with nine shots overall and five shots on goal while Faria had three shots on goal and five overall.
Angela Reynolds was next with three shots and
Jia Diaz finished with two while
Leila Byru,
Faith Wylie and
Cierra Bradley had one shot apiece. Reynolds, Wylie and Byru each had a shot on goal.
Michelle Granja notched her third shutout of the season in the net and made six saves.
Southwest Baptist falls to 0-4-2 overall and 0-2-1 in GLVC play.
Lincoln will remain on the road for its next contest, as the Blue Tigers travel to St. Louis, Mo. to play Missouri-St. Louis on Friday (Sept. 27) at 5:00 p.m. CDT.
