Blue Tigers Roll to First Ever GLVC Victory

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln men's soccer team attempted 17 total shots while facing just one shot on goal as the Blue Tigers defeated Drury, 7-0, on Friday evening (Sept. 20). This is the first GLVC win for LU on the season and the first GLVC victory for any Lincoln team since the school joined the conference back in July.

Vincent Osei and Jadiel Chance combined for the shutout, with Chance getting the save on the Panthers' only shot on goal. Drury, which entered the weekend receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches' Division II top-25 poll, was held to just five shot attempts on the night. Lincoln (2-1-1, 1-1 GLVC) had 12 shots on goal, seven of which made it past Drury's goalkeeper, including six scores in the first half.

Christopher Hull opened the scoring with a crossing shot just 3:06 into the contest, setting the tone for a dominant night on both ends of the pitch for the Blue Tigers. Kevon Maitland scored the next two goals, with Hull and Rajae Lawrence earning assists on Maitland's second score. In the 24th minute of play, Jonas Mueller got the ball to Eugeni Yague on a header and Yague's shot got past the netminder for a 4-0 LU lead.

The final two goals of the first half belonged to Ackeem Mullings, with the second coming with just three minutes until the break. Drury (3-1-1, 1-1 GLVC) got its only shot on goal during the second half while Shandee Brooks added one more goal in the 67th minute to close the scoring. Dennis Roller had three shots on the evening while Theon Cupee, Tyrieke Spaulding and Finn Johannesmann each had a shot in the second half.

The Blue Tigers visit Bolivar, Mo. on Sunday (Sept. 22) to play Southwest Baptist in a 2:30 p.m. CDT contest.
