ROLLA, Mo. - Missouri S&T scored with just 10 seconds left on the clock to win, 2-1, and hand the Lincoln women's soccer team its first-ever loss on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 15).
The Miners scored in the 18th minute of play and took that 1-0 lead into halftime. The lead held until late in the second half, when
Angela Reynolds scored with 8:57 remaining to tie the game at one-all. It appeared as though the contest would turn into a tie, but Missouri S&T (1-2, 1-0 GLVC) scored off a free kick in the final seconds to beat the Blue Tigers in the GLVC opener for both squads.
Kanon Dehama had four saves for Lincoln (4-1, 0-1 GLVC), which finished with five shots on goal but just six attempts overall compared to 20 for the Miners. Missouri S&T also had nine corner kick opportunities while LU was held to just one.Â
Reynolds attempted three shots, all of which were on goal, and
Grace Larson,
Leah Serritos and
Ivanna Faria each had one shot. Both of Serritos' and Faria's shots were on goal.
Lincoln returns home to host Drury on Sunday (Sept. 20) in a 5:00 p.m. CDT showdown.
