Steph Torres and
AJ Bradley each finished in double figures, but the Lincoln women's basketball team fell to Missouri Southern, ranked No. 24 in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division II poll, by a final score of 76-57 on Thursday (Feb. 8).
Torres led the way with 15 points while Bradley added 10 points, three assists, two rebounds and a steal.
Imani Jones very nearly joined Torres and Bradley in double digits, ending the night with nine points and three rebounds.
Lincoln (6-15, 2-13 MIAA) came out hot in the second half, scoring 25 points on .615 shooting. For the rest of the game, however, the Blue Tigers were held to .389 from the field and .278 from long distance while Missouri Southern (18-4, 14-2 MIAA) shot .481 overall and .438 from three-point range. The battle on the glass was close, with MSSU grabbing 34 rebounds and LU claiming 33, and the Blue Tigers forced the Lions into 17 turnovers.
Ashlyn Alloway had a team-high five rebounds to go with eight points, two blocks and a pair of assists.
Miriam Bazylewicz and
Hanne Nybo each scored six points, with Bazylewicz providing two steals, two assists and three boards.
Biance Stocks had three points to close the scoring as well as a steal and a rebound.
Tatiana Beaumont pulled down three boards and
Alyssa McCarty had one.
Kiara Cabrera, meanwhile, collected two rebounds and blocked a shot.
Lincoln remains on the road on Saturday (Feb. 10), closing a three-game trip by playing Pittsburg State in Pittsburg, Kan. at 1:30 p.m. CST.
