Blue Tigers Defeat RiverHawks, 70-58


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Ashlyn Alloway scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Lincoln women's basketball team to a 70-58 victory over Northeastern State in Jason Gym on Thursday night (Feb. 29).

Alloway also had six rebounds and two steals while Miriam Bazylewicz provided 14 points, two rebounds, an assist and a steal. Hanny Nybo collected seven rebounds and had two points and a steal to go with five assists. Biance Stocks also dished five assists and chipped in five points while also tallying three boards, a steal and a block.

AJ Bradley, who ended the evening with two steals and a rebound, scored seven points. One of those points came at the charity stripe for her 299th career free throw, moving Bradley into second place in program history. She surpassed Andrea Sykes' career total of 298, set between 1995-99.

Lincoln (7-20, 3-18 MIAA) led 31-24 at halftime and came out strong in the third quarter, shooting .692 from the field while scoring 24 points to take command of the game. Northeastern State (14-13, 10-11 MIAA) was held to .379 shooting for the evening, including .222 from behind the arc, while the Blue Tigers shot .500 overall. The RiverHawks out-rebounded the Blue Tigers, 38-29, but Lincoln forced 19 turnovers, resulting in 26 points for LU.

Saniya Simmons scored six points, dished four assists, pulled down three rebounds and notched two steals. Imani Jones had a rebound while Alyssa McCarty finished with eight points, three boards and a team-high three steals. Kiara Cabrera closed the scoring for Lincoln with two points.

The Blue Tigers close the regular season at home on Saturday (March 2) by hosting Rogers State at 1:00 p.m. CST. Saturday is a white out, with fans encouraged to wear white to the contest. It is also senior day, and a ceremony will be held after the game to honor graduating players Bazylewicz, Bradley and Steph Torres.
