Blue Tigers Close Season With Senior Day Win Over Rogers State

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln women's basketball team ended both its 2023-24 season and its time as a member of the MIAA in winning fashion, beating Rogers State, 62-57, on Saturday afternoon (March 2).

The Blue Tigers shot .500 or better in three of the game's four quarters, held the Hillcats to .346 shooting overall, and forced 17 turnovers to win their second-straight game. Lincoln, which is becoming a full member of the GLVC next season, also finished with a 38-27 advantage in rebounding and received 30 points from its reserves.

Ashlyn Alloway had a double-double, leading the Blue Tigers with 14 points and 12 rebounds while dishing two assists, recording two steals and blocking a shot. Two other Blue Tigers scored in double digits, with Steph Torres adding 13 points, three boards and a pair of assists. Saniya Simmons, meanwhile, dished a team-high four assists and had 11 points to go with two rebounds and a pair of takeaways.

Lincoln (8-20, 4-18 MIAA) led 15-11 after the first period, but Rogers State (10-18, 5-17 MIAA) took advantage of a late second quarter run to cut its deficit down to 30-29 entering halftime. The third quarter went back-and-forth, with RSU taking the lead on several occasions, but a layup by Imani Jones and a pair of free throws from Simmons gave Lincoln a lead it would never relinquish. The Blue Tigers led by as many as nine early in the final period and never allowed the Hillcats to get closer than within three points.

AJ Bradley scored nine points, registered two steals and gathered five rebounds while Miriam Bazylewicz finished the day with four points, three boards and an assist. Following the game, Lincoln held a Senior Day ceremony recognizing Bazylewicz, Bradley and Torres.

Jones finished with four points and a block, Kiara Cabrera secured two rebounds and notched a steal, and Biance Stocks provided a rebound and an assist. Alyssa McCarty closed the scoring with three points and a steal.
