EMPORIA, Kan. -
Ashlyn Alloway scored 23 points, but the Lincoln women's basketball team fell to Emporia State, 73-59, in its final road game as a member of the MIAA on Saturday (Feb. 24).
Alloway also posted team-highs in rebounding (six) and steals (four) to go with an assist.
AJ Bradley led the Blue Tigers with five assists, made a free throw, registered a steal and pulled down three rebounds.
Biance Stocks, meanwhile, finished with five points, three assists and a steal.
Both teams scored 13 points in the opening quarter, but Emporia State (13-13, 10-10 MIAA) out-scored the Blue Tigers by 10 in the second to take a 31-21 lead into halftime. Lincoln (6-20, 2-18 MIAA) came out strong in the second half, scoring 24 points on .615 shooting in the third period to cut the gap down to 51-45. The Blue Tigers later pulled to within five on a layup from Alloway with 6:32 remaining, but the Lady Hornets used a 7-0 run to take back the momentum.
Miriam Bazylewicz had eight points and two rebounds on Saturday while
Hanne Nybo added three points and four boards.
Saniya Simmons,
Alyssa McCarty and
Tatiana Beaumont each added three points, with Simmons collecting three rebounds.
Steph Torres closed the scoring for Lincoln with 11 points.
The Blue Tigers will play their final two games of the season in Jason Gym next week, beginning on Thursday (Feb. 29) with a 5:30 p.m. CST contest against Northeastern State. Thursday will be Greek Night, featuring performances by members of Lincoln's sororities and fraternities, and will also be LU's annual Coaches vs. Cancer game.
