JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln men's basketball team remained perfect against non-conference teams with a 95-52 victory over Spurgeon on Thursday night (Dec. 12).
Mikey West led all players with 30 points as the Blue Tigers shot .516 from the floor, .536 from three-point range and .762 at the line. Lincoln (7-3) drained 15 treys, with West going 9-for-13 from long distance. West also dished five assists, notched a pair of steals and grabbed two rebounds.
In a season of strong defensive performances, the Blue Tigers once again proved why they rank among the best in NCAA Division II in both field goal defense and scoring defense. Lincoln, which is in the top-10 nationally in points allowed and among the top-45 in opponent shooting percentage, held the Knights to .317 for the ballgame, with Spurgeon (9-3) making just 19 of its 60 attempts. LU also forced 18 turnovers and finished with a 49-30 advantage in rebounding.
Two other Blue Tigers scored in double figures, including
Franck Yetna, who posted a double-double with 15 points, 10 boards, three blocks and two assists.
Max Ekono, meanwhile, ended the evening with 10 points, seven rebounds, two steals and an assist.
Tyson Robinson added nine points, two rebounds and an assist to the winning cause while
Tyler Chapman matched West with five assists to go with eight points, a block and a steal.
Matthieu Biembongo pulled down eight rebounds and chipped in five points.
Isaiah Robinson came off the bench to provide six points, two steals, a rebound and an assist.
Xavier Ball scored three points and secured five rebounds while
Malcolm Davis finished with two points, a pair of rebounds, blocked a shot and dished four assists.Â
Youssouf Timera collected five rebounds, all in the second half, and had two points as well as a block and a steal.
Reumang Emagna tallied two rebounds and a steal while
Caleb Wright supplied two points, two rebounds and two assists.
Fred Cuello closed the scoring with three points, a rebound, an assist and a steal.
Lincoln closes a four-game homestand on Monday afternoon (Dec. 16) by hosting Mission at 2:00 p.m. CST.
