JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln women's basketball team began its 2024-25 campaign on a high note, beating Harris Stowe, 58-42, in a battle between Missouri's two HBCUs on Wednesday night (Nov. 13).
Hanne Nybo posted a double-double, tallying a team-high 13 points and 12 rebounds to go with two blocks and an assist.
Kiara Cabrera provided 12 points and five boards to the winning cause while
Ayreona Carter added seven points, six boards and a steal.
The Blue Tigers forced Harris Stowe (1-3) into 18 turnovers, leading to 17 points for LU, and Lincoln won the rebounding battle, 55-49. The Blue Tigers also held the Hornets to just .243 shooting for the contest and .227 from three point range. LU was also called for only eight fouls throughout the contest, leading to just four shot attempts at the line for HSSU.
Lyssa Sportsman finished second among the Blue Tigers with seven rebounds and had an assist while
Biance Stocks contributed five points, six rebounds and two assists.
Chase Giddings led LU with three steals while chipping in four points and collecting two rebounds.
Imani Harris also scored four points and dished a pair of assists to go with a rebound.
Isis Sanders ended the night with four points and two boards while
Kennedy Jones had a rebound and a steal.
Cassidy Gladney and
Kaleah Toran each chipped in two points, with Gladney also pulling down two rebounds and registering a block. Toran finished with a rebound and a steal.
Lincoln will be off until Monday, Nov. 25, when the Blue Tigers visit Topeka, Kan. to play Washburn at 6:00 p.m. CST.
