Lincoln Beats Harris Stowe to Improve to 3-0


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Five members of the Lincoln men's basketball team scored in double digits as the Blue Tigers beat Harris Stowe, 89-47, to win the battle between the state of Missouri's two HBCUs on Wednesday (Nov. 13).

Xavier Ball poured in a team-high 17 points, pulled down eight rebounds and tallied two steals while Franck Yetna finished with 15 points, five boards, a pair of blocks, two steals and an assist. Mikey West was a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line and ended the night with 14 points, three boards, two steals and an assist.

Lincoln (3-0) held Harris Stowe (2-5) to .245 shooting from the field and .222 shooting from three point range. The Blue Tigers raced out to a 35-12 halftime lead, marking the second time in three games that Lincoln has held an opponent to under 20 points in the first half. LU shot .833 at the line, out-gained HSSU on the glass, 56-32, and made 13 treys in front of a packed, enthusiastic crowd. Lincoln also stole the ball nine times and forced 14 total turnovers.

Tyler Chapman had one of those steals as well as 11 points, three rebounds and a team-best five assists. Tyson Robinson, meanwhile, added 13 points and an assist to the winning cause. Yousouf Timera was the top rebounder with 10 on the evening and also chipped in two points to go with a block.

Malcolm Davis added seven points, eight boards and two assists while Max Ekono contributed seven rebounds, two points, an assist and a steal. Caleb Wright finished the night with two points and two rebounds, Isaiah Robinson scored four points and Matthieu Biembongo secured two rebounds. Fred Cuello rounded out Lincoln with two points, a pair of assists, a steal and four rebounds.

Lincoln heads to Nashville, Tenn. on Saturday (Nov. 16) for a neutral site game against Auburn-Montgomery. Tip-off from Fisk University is set for 2:00 p.m. CST.
