THE TIP OFF:  The Lincoln men's basketball, 2-0 early in the season, will try to remain undefeated as LU plays a pair of non-conference contests this week. Lincoln is at home on Wednesday (Nov. 13), hosting Harris Stowe at 7:30 p.m. CST in a battle between Missouri's two HBCU schools. That will be the second game of a double-header as the Lincoln women's basketball team tips off its 2024-25 campaign against Harris Stowe at 5:30 p.m. CST. On Saturday (Nov. 16), the Blue Tigers travel to Nashville, Tenn. to play Auburn-Montgomery at 2:00 p.m. CST in a neutral site contest that will be played at Fist University. Lincoln beat a pair of regional Division II opponents to begin its 2024-25 season, as LU defeated Wayne State, 55-52, on Friday (Nov. 8) and Kentucky Wesleyan, 72-69, on Sunday (Nov. 10).
 
FAST BREAKS
- Wednesday marks the 25th time that Lincoln will play Harris Stowe, with the Blue Tigers owning an all-time advantage of 22-2 over the Hornets.
 
- The Blue Tigers beat the Hornets in St. Louis, 84-68, last season.
 
- The last time Lincoln played Harris Stowe in Jefferson City was in 2022, with the Blue Tigers winning, 78-49.
 
- Saturday marks the first-ever meeting between Lincoln and Auburn-Montgomery.
 
PREVIEWING THE BLUE TIGERS:  Xavier Ball leads Lincoln with 15.5 points per game while Franck Yetna averages 15.0 points and 9.5 boards for a Blue Tiger team that is holding opponents to 60.5 points per contest. Tyler Chapman averages 7.5 assists as well as 12.5 points, Malcolm Davis is averaging 8.0 points and 2.5 assists and Tyson Robinson is averaging 5.5 points.
 
HEAD COACH JIMMY DREW:  In his third year as the head coach at Lincoln, Drew led the Blue Tigers to 17 overall wins and 13 conference wins, the latter a program record, in 2022-23. Drew has led LU to a pair of postseason appearances as well as a playoff victory in 2023-24. Drew came to Lincoln following a six-year run on the staff at Division I Central Florida, where he helped UCF make the second round of the NCAA tourney.

Lincoln 55, Wayne State 52
Lincoln held Wayne State to just 14 points in the first half and held off a second half comeback to win its season opener, 55-52, in Jefferson City on Friday (Nov. 8). Xavier Ball, who grabbed eight rebounds, and Tyler Chapman each scored 14 points while Franck Yetna collected 10 rebounds.
 
Lincoln 72, Kentucky Wesleyan 69
Xavier Ball drained a three as time expired to give the Blue Tigers a 72-69 victory in Jason Gym over Kentucky Wesleyan on Sunday (Nov. 10). Franck Yetna led LU with 24 points and nine boards, Tyler Chapman posted a double-double with 11 points and 12 assists and Ball finished with 17 points.
 
SCOUTING THE HORNETS:  Seth Chargois is averaging 17.4 points and 5.0 rebounds while Bennie Amos III has scored 88 points and dished 28 assists for a Harris Stowe team that averages 77.6 points on .323 shooting. Jalen Watson leads the Hornets with 7.2 rebounds per contest and Freddy Reeves, Jr. has 11 steals while Chargois has blocked seven shots.
 
HSSU HEAD COACH MICHAEL COOK:  A 15-year coaching veteran, Cook also serves Harris Stowe as the school's Assistant Athletic Director for Community Partnerships and Fan Experience. Cook came to HSSU from Fort Scott Community College, where he coached 45 players who went on to play for four-year schools, as well as 11 who played some level of pro basketball.
 
SCOUTING THE WARHAWKS:  Malachi Rhodes leads Auburn-Montgomery with 7.0 rebounds per game and is averaging 10.5 points while the leading scorer is Trent Coleman with 12. points per contest. Sam Youngblood is averaging 11.5 points for a Warhawks team that tallies 78.5 points and allows 93.0 points per night. Talib Ferrette and Jamarious Martin average 7.5 points and Gilbert Croley and Colby Williams are each averaging 6.0 points.
 
AUM HEAD COACH MICHAEL CHEANEY:  The third men's basketball coach in the history of Auburn-Montgomery, Cheaney is a 20-year coaching veteran in his 11th season with the Warhawks. Cheaney has led the Warhawks to over 180 victories and led the team to its highest-ever ranking in the GSC tournament in 2023-24.
 
SHUTDOWN DEFENSE:  The Blue Tigers gave up just 14 points in the first half of its opening game of the season and has allowed teams to score just 60.5 points per contest, giving Lincoln the 21st-ranked scoring defense in Division II. Teams are shooting just .375 against Lincoln, the 20th-lowest percentage in the country as well as the best in the GLVC.
 
WITH THE ASSIST:  Tyler Chapman posted the first double-double of the season for Lincoln with 11 points and 12 assists in the Blue Tigers' win over Kentucky Wesleyan. Chapman has Division II's best assist-to-turnover ratio of 15.0 and he also ranks fifth in the nation with 7.5 assists per game. Chapman's 15 total assists are the 20th-most in the country.
 
THREE PARTY:  With 9.5 three-point shots made per game, Lincoln is third in the GLVC and 50th in the nation in hitting the triple. Tyler Chapman is 11th in Division II with a .714 three-point percentage while Xavier Ball's 3.5 treys per contest rank 42nd nationally. Ball, who is leading Lincoln with 15.5 points per night, has made seven three-point shots, including the game-winner in LU's 72-69 win over Kentucky Wesleyan.
 
QUITE FRANCKLY:  Franck Yetna has been a force on the glass, securing 19 rebounds through two games, the 45th-most in NCAA Division II as well as the fifth-most in the GLVC. Yetna is also averaging 8.5 defensive boards per night, rating him 14th in the national ranks and third in the league in that category.
 
STARTING STRONG:  Coach Jimmy Drew has the Blue Tigers off to a 2-0 start for the third time in three seasons as the head coach at Lincoln. This is also the fourth time in the last five seasons that LU has started a campaign with a 2-0 record. A win on Wednesday night would give Lincoln its third-consecutive 3-0 start to a season.
