JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln women's soccer team struck first, but fell to McKendree, ranked No. 23 in the United Soccer Coaches' Division II poll, on Friday (Oct. 4). The Bearcats took advantage of a big first half to win, 13-1.
Lincoln (5-4, 1-4 GLVC) got on the scoreboard early as
Ivanna Faria's kick from approximately 25 yards out flew past the McKendree (9-1, 5-1 GLVC) goalkeeper just over four minutes into the contest. The Bearcats had a quick response, however, scoring just 17 seconds later to swing the momentum to McKendree's favor.
The Blue Tigers attempted seven shots on goal, and 11 overall, with four of those shots on goal belonging to Faria, who had five shots in the contest.
Grace Larson finished with six total shots and three on goal.
Kanon Dehama played the first half in goal and made two saves while
Abigail Hunt played the second half and stopped three shots.
Lincoln will get to test itself against another nationally-ranked opponent on Sunday (Oct. 6) when the Blue Tigers host No. 20 Maryville at 12:00 p.m. CDT.
