KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Lincoln men's soccer team scored in the 80th minute to beat Truman State, 2-1, on Friday afternoon (Oct. 25).
Shandee Brooks hit the game-winning goal off a pass from
Bailey Rhodes for the only score by either team in the second half. Truman State (4-6-3, 3-5-3 GLVC) had 11 shots compared to nine for Lincoln (5-5-3, 4-5-2 GLVC), but the Blue Tigers finished with three shots on goal while the Bulldogs had just two.
Guilherme Goncalves Capaldi opened the scoring with a goal in the fourth minute, with
Eugeni Yague earning the assist on the play. The Bulldogs responded in the 38th minute.Â
Antwone Gooden played the complete game in goal and made a save while Capaldi led the offense with three shots, including two on goal.
Kevon Maitland had a pair of shot attempts while
Deshawn Patterson,
Hadri Lopez and
Christopher Hull finished with one shot apiece.
Lincoln will play its final regular season road game on Sunday (Oct. 27) as the Blue Tigers travel to Quincy, Ill. to take on Quincy in a 2:30 p.m. CDT contest.
