JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln men's soccer team held a 14-7 advantage in total shots, but a first half goal by Lewis stood tall as the Flyers beat the Blue Tigers, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 20).
Lewis (7-1-6, 7-0-3 GLVC) only had three shots on goal, two of which were stopped by
Antwone Gooden while third snuck past off a header for the only goal of the match in the 33rd minute of play. Lincoln (4-5-3, 3-5-2 GLVC) had four corner kick opportunities compared to two for the Flyers, but was held to just four shot on goal chances.
Ateibo Green, who had one of those shots on goal, and
Albert Kemeh each had three shot attempts while
Brady Charles finished with two, including one on goal.
Kevon Maitland and
Finn Johannesmann had Lincoln's other shots on goal, and
Christopher Hull,
Kanye Francis and
Hadri Lopez each registered one shot attempt in Sunday's contest.
Lincoln travels to Kirksville, Mo. next Friday (Oct. 25) to play Truman State in a 2:30 p.m. CDT contest.
