JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln football team hosted its annual Think Pink Game, where coaches and Blue Tiger players wore pink to raise awareness of cancer prevention and treatment research, on Saturday (Oct. 19). Upper Iowa ended up getting the win, however, stopping Lincoln three times on fourth down conversion attempts en route to a 31-3 victory.
The Blue Tigers held the ball for 32:52,
Ke'Ron Blankumsee broke up two passes,
Renard Willis intercepted a pass and the defense finished with six tackles for loss. Upper Iowa (5-3, 4-1 GLVC) scored touchdowns on each of its first three possessions, but Lincoln (1-6, 0-5 GLVC) held the Peacocks to only 10 points over the final three quarters of the contest. LU scored its points on a 30-yard field goal by
Mo Alwaely early in the second quarter.
Isaiah Tate completed 16 passes for 156 yards,
Jareese Howard led the LU rushing attack with 56 yards and
Tobias Williams caught two passes for 41 yards.
Xavier Delk made a 34-yard grab,
Max Rodriguez and
Israel Tate had three receptions apiece and Warren Mayes and
Kellen Porter each caught a pair of passes. Alwaely averaged 38.0 yards on kickoffs while
Clayton Winkler averaged 36.5 yards punting with a long of 52 yards.
Jayvon Only, who broke up a pass, and
Jordan Hoskins tied for the team-lead with seven tackles apiece.
Yasir Talib-Harrison had two tackles for loss and also made seven tackles overall while Willis,
Vez Carter,
Jacob McGhee and
Jeremiah Gill each had 0.5 tackles for loss.
Qwalan Miller and Carter added five tackles apiece while
Woodens PierreLouis was next with three.
Lincoln is on the road for its next two contests, beginning on Saturday (Oct. 26) with a visit to Rolla, Mo. to play Missouri S&T. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CDT.
