Blue Tigers Fall in Illinois

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The Lincoln women's soccer team continued its conference slate on Sunday (Oct. 13), dropping a 6-1 decision to Illinois-Springfield.

Carolina Dos Santos had the score for Lincoln (5-7, 1-7 GLVC), taking a pass from Jia Diaz and sending it past the goalkeeper to pull the Blue Tigers to within 3-1 of the Prairie Stars just before halftime. Illinois-Springfield (5-4-3, 5-3-1 GLVC) kept the Blue Tigers off the board in the second half, however, and finished with a 16-4 advantage on total shots.

Michelle Granja recorded six saves while Ivanna Faria, Leila Byru and Grace Larson each had shots for Lincoln.

The Blue Tigers return home to host Upper Iowa on Friday (Oct. 18) in a 5:00 p.m. CDT match at Jefferson City High School.
