INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Lincoln men's soccer team and Indianapolis played a hard-fought match on Friday night (Oct. 11), but the Greyhounds emerged on top with a 2-1 win.
Antwone Gooden made six saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal and
Brady Charles led Lincoln (3-4-2, 2-4-1 GLVC) with three shots overall, two of which were on goal.
Albert Kemeh had two shot attempts and
Guilherme Goncalves Capaldi and
Eugeni Yague each had a shot on goal.
Indianapolis (7-2-1, 7-0-1 GLVC) struck first, scoring in the ninth minute off a deflected shot, and held that 1-0 lead until halftime. The Greyhounds scored again 3:12 into the second half, but Lincoln had a quick answer, as Kemeh found the back of the net off of a pass from
Hadri Lopez to cut the deficit down to one. The Blue Tigers had a number of good opportunities for an equalizer, but the Greyhounds remainded stout defensively to escape with the win.
Lincoln is back on the pitch on Sunday (Oct. 13) to play Illinois-Springfield in Springfield, Ill. in a 2:30 p.m. CDT contest.
