Final Results
FULTON, Mo. - The Lincoln women's golf team turned in its best finish of the season this week, taking fourth out of 14 teams at the WWU Spring Invitational, hosted by William Woods University at Tanglewood Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday (March 27-28).
Kaathi Gunasegar and
Saikati Gikonyo each tied for 17th with scores of 162 as LU, which previously had a highest season finish of sixth at the Buccaneer Invitational, turned its first top-five result of 2022-23. Gunasegar opened the two-round tourney with a 79 on Monday before carding an 83 on Tuesday. Gikonyo, meanwhile, improved six strokes from her first round total of 84 by firing a 78 on Tuesday.
Two other LU golfers finished among the top-20, including
Nyah Singh, who shot scores of 79 and 84 to finish in 19th with a 163.
Maria Villamil rounded out the scoring by tying for 20th with a 164. Villamil scored an 82 in each round.
Rounding out Lincoln's team performance was
Elliott Hull, who tied for 33rd with a 168 after carding an 84 in both rounds.
Marsya Nazri played as an individual, tying for 25th with a 165. Nazri, who had the highest finish of all the individual players at the WWU Spring Invitational, shot an 80 in the first round and an 85 in the second.
Lincoln will be in Newton, Kan. next Monday and Tuesday (April 3-4) to play in the Newman Invitational, hosted by Newman University at Sand Creek Station.
