JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln softball team plays its first road MIAA double-headers of 2023 this weekend as the Blue Tigers travel to Kansas to play Washburn and Emporia State. On Friday (March 24), Lincoln visits Topeka, Kan. to play Washburn at 2:00 p.m. CDT. LU then plays a twinbill in Emporia, Kan. against Emporia State on Saturday (March 25) at 12:00 p.m. CDT.
The Blue Tigers are 1-3 in MIAA play after opening their home slate with double-headers against Pittsburg State and Missouri Southern. LU split the twinbill against Missouri Southern, as
Jordan Galliher pitched 5.2 innings and rang up three strikeouts to lead Lincoln to a 4-3 victory on March 14.
Ashton Stalling allowed just one hit and zero runs to earn her first save of the season while
Maris Ollison hit a two-run homer and
Leslie Callahan went 3-for-3 at the plate.
Callahan is batting .375 with 18 hits and 10 runs, and leads Lincoln in all three categories.
Leah Wagner, a .357 batter who has seven runs and seven RBI, is tied with
Qwynn Marquez, who is batting .349, with 15 hits apiece. Ollison has a team-high nine RBI and is tied with
Jacqueline Marquez with 12 hits.
Jacqueline Marquez, Callahan and Ollison all have two home runs on the season.
Galliher owns a 3.77 ERA and has struck out 24 opposing batters in 42.2 innings of work. Stalling has fanned 12 batters while
Joss Marriott has struck out 11, with both pitchers having notched a win.
