JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Central Missouri, ranked No. 3 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Division II poll, defeated the Lincoln women's basketball team, 66-46, despite a strong defensive effort by the Blue Tigers on Saturday (Dec. 9).
The Blue Tigers held the Jennies to .377 shooting overall and .304 from three-point range and forced UCM into 16 turnovers. LU blocked three shots, with
Ashlyn Alloway, who recorded 17 points, nine rebounds and three steals, rejecting two of those shots. The Jennies also played well defensively, however, as LU was held to .348 shooting overall and just one successful three-point attempt.
Central Missouri (8-0, 3-0 MIAA) led the entire game, but Lincoln (4-4, 1-2 MIAA) hung with the nationally-ranked Jennies early, with UCM finishing the opening quarter with just an 11-8 advantage. Central Missouri outscored Lincoln by a combined 19 points in the second and third quarters, marking the biggest difference in the game, though Lincoln outscored UCM 21-19 in the final period.
Steph Torres provided 16 points, two boards, a steal and a block, while Biance had a pair of takeaways to go with four points, an assist and five rebounds.
AJ Bradley ended the day with five points, two steals and an assist.
Hanne Nybo contributed six rebounds and two points,
Imani Jones had a rebound and
Alyssa McCarty finished with two points and a pair of rebounds.
Tatiana Beaumont had a steal and three boards.
Lincoln will remain at home to host Missouri Southern next Saturday (Dec. 16) at 1:00 p.m. CST.
