JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - A huge fourth quarter helped the Lincoln women's basketball team fight back from a huge deficit, but Missouri Southern held off the rally to win, 76-57, in Jason Gym on Saturday (Dec. 16).
Imani Jones led LU with 14 points and had three rebounds, a steal and a block, and
Steph Torres finished with 10 points, three assists, two boards and a steal. The Blue Tigers forced 13 turnovers, with
AJ Bradley tallying two takeaways. Bradley also scored 11 points and dished four assists.
Lincoln (4-5, 1-3 MIAA) shot just .242 in the first half and trailed by as many as 34 late in the third period. In the fourth quarter, however, the Blue Tigers shot .611 from the field and five treys, cutting the Missouri Southern (7-4, 4-2 MIAA) lead down to 15. The Lions, who shot .466 overall and .476 from three-point range, received 31 points from its bench and hung on for the victory.
Ashlyn Alloway collected a game-high 11 rebounds and had seven points to go with three assists and a steal.
Heaven Shockley had a rebound,
Alyssa McCarty had four boards, three points and a steal, and
Tatiana Beaumont dropped three dimes to go with five point and four rebounds.
Hanne Nybo chipped in two points and finished with three rebounds.
Biance Stocks, meanwhile, closed the scoring with five points, five boards, four assists and a steal.
Lincoln will host Pittsburg State on Monday night (Dec. 18) at 5:30 p.m. CST.
