JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Lincoln University Director of Golf
Meshia Levister announced on Wednesday (Sept. 28) that she would be resigning to pursue other professional opportunities.
"We are certainly disappointed to see Coach Levister go, but we also take great pride knowing that Lincoln lived its mission by giving her the chance to break through and make history," said
Dr. Kevin Wilson, Vice President for Advancement, Athletics and Campus Recreation. "I wish her nothing but the best and feel confident that we will identify the right leader for our deserving golf programs."
Lincoln made history when it announced the hiring of Levister this past summer, as she became the first-ever African American woman to be the head coach of an MIAA men's golf program. Levister, the university's first-ever Director of Golf, was also the only African American golf coach in the conference.
Steven Mallow, who coached the LU men's golf team between 2017-21, has been named the interim Director of Golf. A national search has begun to fill the position.
