EMPORIA, Kan. -
Chuck Wilson led a balanced scoring attack by the Lincoln men's basketball team on Saturday (Feb. 12), but the Blue Tigers dropped a 90-71 decision to Emporia State.
Wilson had 13 points and three rebounds while
Mekhi Kimble and
Yaniel Vidal each scored nine. Kimble dished two assists to go with three rebounds and a steal, and Vidal finished with a steal, an assist and a pair of rebounds. Five other Blue Tigers scored six points apiece, including
Derrick Woods and
Josh Wallace, who also each collected five rebounds.
The first half went back-and-forth, with the lead changing between Emporia State (18-6, 13-5 MIAA) and Lincoln (2-19, 1-15 MIAA) seven times, and the score being tied twice. Lincoln shot .438 for the game, including .467 in the first half, and held the Hornets to .300 shooting from three-point range. Emporia State shot .528 overall, however, and made 28 free throws to hang on for the victory.
Alafia Oluwasogo recorded two steals while scoring six points and grabbing four boards, and
Destan Williams added six points and an assist while
John Gaines ended the day with two assists and six points.
Arash Yaqubi came off the bench to provide five points and two boards, and
Ni'Sean Rigmaiden closed the scoring with five points, four assists, four rebounds and a steal.
The Blue Tigers will travel to Hays, Kan. on Monday (Feb. 14) to play Fort Hays State at 5:00 p.m. CST.
