Miriam Bazylewicz and
Saniya Simmons combined for 33 points, but the Lincoln women's basketball team fell to Central Missouri, 80-58, on Sunday afternoon (Dec. 11). Central Missouri entered the game ranked No. 24 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Division II poll.
Bazylewicz led LU with 12 points and tied for the team-high with seven rebounds. Simmons, meanwhile, scored 11 to go with six assists and four steals, both of which were team-highs. Simmons additionally grabbed three rebounds.
Central Missouri (6-0, 3-0 MIAA) scored 20 points in the opening quarter and held a 42-25 lead at halftime. Lincoln (1-8, 0-4 MIAA) picked up its offense in the second half, scoring 33 points while shooting .519 from the floor, .333 from three-point range and a perfect 1.000 at the free throw line.
Aliyah Bello matched Bazylewicz with seven rebounds and chipped in six points to go with an assist.
Le'Yanna McGinnis added nine points, three blocks and three boards to the LU effort, and
Kelsey Mitchell provided six points and four rebounds.
Ashlyn Alloway, meanwhile, had two points, a block, a rebound an an assist.
Niyah Jackson came off the bench to dish five assists and score six points.
Aysia Arrowood also had six points and an assist while
AJ Bradley grabbed a rebound.
Lincoln next plays on Monday, Dec. 19 in Jefferson City, as the Blue Tigers host Stephens at 5:30 p.m. CST.
