Blue Tigers Fall to No. 23 Central Oklahoma

EDMOND, Okla. - The Lincoln softball team played the No. 23 team in the country on the road on Friday (March 26), dropping a pair of MIAA contests to Central Oklahoma. Lincoln fell in the first game, 8-0, and dropped the second, 10-1.

In the second game, Jacqueline Marquez scored for LU in the third inning on a base hit from Emily Williams. Marquez got on board via a fielder's choice, then used some crafty base running and took advantage of some poor throws by UCO to reach third base. Williams had two hits for Lincoln, including a double.

Leah Wagner, who also hit a double, and Alex Miller additionally had hits for Lincoln (3-14-1, 1-7 MIAA), as the Blue Tigers had at least one base runner in every inning except for one during the second game. Ashton Stalling and Shannon Greene both struck out UCO batters, with Greene giving up just one hit to Central Oklahoma (18-6, 7-1 MIAA), the No. 23 team in the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association's Division II poll.

Miller also rang up a strikeout in the circle for LU in the first game of the afternoon, and had a hit, as did Marquez. Throughout the twinbill, Jordan Hollon turned a team-high five assists, and Kendra Holt recorded six putouts while Jordan Lawson was responsible for four and Stalling had three.

Lincoln visits Wichita, Kan. on Saturday (March 27) to play Newman in a 1:00 p.m. CDT double-header.
