KEARNEY, Neb. -
Niyah Jackson scored 19 points, but the Lincoln women's basketball team fell to Nebraska Kearney, 79-57, on Saturday (Feb. 20).
Jackson pulled down two rebounds and dished two assists while
AJ Bradley provided eight points, five boards, a pair of steals and a team-high five assists.
Vivian Chigbu and
Ashtin Ingram each also scored eight points, with Chigbu grabbing a team-leading seven rebounds. Ingram had five boards as well as two blocks.
Nebraska Kearney (17-3, 17-3 MIAA), the No. 12 team in the country according to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Division II poll, scored 21 points in the first quarter and 25 in the fourth to bookend its performance on Saturday. Lincoln (1-19, 1-19 MIAA) held the Lopers to just .273 shooting from three-point range, and forced 13 turnovers, resulting in 19 points for the Blue Tigers. UNK shot .527 overall, however, and finished with a 39-35 advantage on the glass.
Lincoln out-scored the Lopers in both the second and third quarters, including dropping 21 points in the third period. LU also made five treys, but shot just .339 from the field and .500 at the line. One of those treys came courtesy of
Haylie Holloway, who ended her day with five points, two boards and two steals.
Aliyah Bello added four points and six rebounds to the Lincoln effort, and
Simone Jordan contributed three points, four boards and a block.
Kiara Cadore closed the scoring with two points and a steal.
The Blue Tigers play their final home game of 2020-21 on Thursday (Feb. 25), as Lincoln hosts Newman in Jason Gym at 5:30 p.m. CST.
