Vivian Chigbu posted her second-straight double-double, but the Lincoln women's basketball team fell to Emporia State in its Senior Day game on Saturday (Feb. 13).
Chigbu, who had a double-double on Thursday (Feb. 11), finished her Senior Day game with 10 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block. Lincoln's other senior,
Virja Lewis, started Saturday's game and had three points and a block.
Emporia State (14-4, 14-4 MIAA), ranked No. 25 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division II poll, shot .515 from the field, including .733 in a decisive third quarter in which ESU out-scored the Blue Tigers, 29-9. Lincoln (1-17, 1-17 MIAA) led after the first quarter, 21-20, and was down just 40-33 at halftime.Â
Both teams rebounded well, with Emporia State collecting 48 boards and the Blue Tigers tallying 41. Lincoln had 20 offensive rebounds, and forced the Lady Hornets into 15 turnovers. LU also had three blocks, including one by
Ashtin Ingram, who ended her day with five points and six rebounds.
AJ Bradley led Lincoln with 18 points and collected seven rebounds to go with four assists and three steals.
Niyah Jackson also finished in double figures, scoring 11 while grabbing seven rebounds, dishing two assists and notching two steals.
Haylie Holloway added six points and three boards, and
Simone Jordan closed the scoring with four points and three rebounds.
Lincoln is back on the road next week, playing Fort Hays State in Hays, Kan. on Thursday (Feb. 18) at 5:30 p.m. CST.
