Drayton's 28 Leads Lincoln to Sweep Over Emporia State


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Quinton Drayton scored 28 points to lead the Lincoln men's basketball team to its second victory over Emporia State this season, as the Blue Tigers cruised to an 84-58 win on Saturday (Feb. 13).

Drayton also grabbed 12 rebounds as Lincoln finished with a 44-34 advantage on the glass. Drayton additionally dished three assists and notched a steal, while Yaniel Vidal and Sai Witt chipped in 15 points apiece. Vidal collected nine rebounds and had three assists to go with two steals. Witt, meanwhile, finished with six boards, three steals, a pair of blocks and an assist.

Lincoln (10-8, 10-8 MIAA) shot .700 from three-point range in the first half and .500 for the game as the Blue Tigers picked up their second win in a row. LU shot .492 for the game, scored 15 second chance points and produced another 11 off of turnovers. Vidal (5-for-5) and Drayton (3-for-3) were both perfect beyond the arc.

LU scored 42 points in each half, and limited Emporia State (8-9, 8-9 MIAA) to 28 points over the game's final 20 minutes. ESU shot just .304 from the field, with LU limiting the Hornets to .227 shooting in the second half, and Emporia State made just three of its 23 tries from three-point range. Lincoln prevented the Hornets from making a trey in the second half.

Cameron Potts and Lamont Ballard, Jr. each scored six points, with Potts also grabbing five rebounds and dishing five assists. Ballard had an assist and a rebound, and Jordan Notch blocked two shots to go with four points. Charles Wilson and Derrick Woods each provided five points and three boards, with Wilson also tallying two assists and a pair of steals. Arash Yaqubi also had a rebound in the victory.

Lincoln will try to keep its winning streak going on Thursday (Feb. 18), as the Blue Tigers head to Hays, Kan. to play Fort Hays State at 7:30 p.m. CST.
