HAYS, Kan. -
Quinton Drayton led the Lincoln men's basketball team with 19 points and seven rebounds, but the Blue Tigers fell to Fort Hays State, 84-67, on Thursday evening (Feb. 18).
Drayton was one of three Blue Tigers to score in double figures, joining
Sai Witt (14 points) and Charles Wilson (13 points). Witt also pulled down six rebounds and dished a pair of assists while Wilson tallied two boards and a steal.Â
Both teams shot the ball well in a first half that concluded with FHSU taking a 48-43 advantage. Lincoln (10-9, 10-9 MIAA) shot .571 from the field and .400 from long distance during the first 20 minutes of the contest, and made all seven of its first half free throw attempts. Fort Hays State (10-9, 10-9 MIAA), meanwhile, shot .531 from the floor and a blistering .600 from long range, making nine treys en route to the five-point lead at intermission.
The second half was a different story for the Blue Tigers, who shot just .280 overall and .250 from three-point land. Fort Hays State, meanwhile, broke open a three-point game with a 20-6 run that put FHSU ahead by 17 late in the contest. FHSU shot .500 from the field over the course of the final 20 minutes, and started that long run by hitting three-straight triples.
Cameron Potts added eight points, six boards, four assists and three steals to the Lincoln cause, and
Lamont Ballard, Jr. chipped in eight points while
Yaniel Vidal closed the scoring with five points, three boards and a pair of steals.
Jordan Notch had a steal,
Derrick Woods blocked a shot and
Mekhi Kimble had a rebound.
Lincoln travels to Kearney, Neb. on Saturday (Feb. 20) to play Nebraska Kearney at 4:00 p.m. CST.
