JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -
Simone Jordan recorded her first double-double of the season, but the Lincoln women's basketball team fell to Fort Hays State, 85-70, on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 9).
Jordan finished her day with a team-high 19 points and 11 rebounds, while
AJ Bradley led three other Blue Tigers in double figures with 13 points, four assists and two boards.
Niyah Jackson added 11 points, three rebounds and three assists, and
Ashtin Ingram came off the bench to provide 10 points, eight boards and a block.
Lincoln (0-7, 0-7 MIAA) led 5-2 early in the contest, but an 11-1 run gave Fort Hays State (6-2, 6-2 MIAA) the lead. A free throw from Jackson followed by back-to-back layups by Ingram and Jordan allowed LU to tie the game at 13, but FHSU scored the next four to take a 22-18 lead through the first 10 minutes.
FHSU scored 20 points in the second quarter, holding LU to just four points until there was 3:30 to go until break. The Blue Tigers finished the quarter with 10 more points, to go into halftime down 42-32, and ended up rallying to cut the deficit down to nine early in the final period. Lincoln ended up shooting .545 from the floor in the fourth quarter, but Fort Hays State held off the Blue Tigers for the win.
Haylie Holloway had seven points and seven boards for the Blue Tigers, who shot .422 for the game but just .190 from three-point range. Holloway also tallied three assists and a steal.
Joseline Ramos scored six and
Aliyah Bello added four points, five boards and a team-high two steals.Â
Lincoln will be on the road for its next three games, beginning on Thursday (Jan. 14) with a trip to Wichita, Kan. to play Newman at 5:30 p.m. CST.
